2016:
Four years ago, we decided to leave our corporate jobs in New York to travel around the world for a few months and to eventually move to Colorado for a change of lifestyle. We currently live near Boulder and enjoy the Colorado outdoors 365 days of the year. Apart from being a techie nerd, my husband, Dan is the farmer in-chief and can be found tending to his vegetable garden at all hours of the day. I am the head chef of the family and currently insanely busy pursuing Masters in Business Analytics from University of Colorado at Boulder.

This blog initially started to keep our friends and family updated about our round the world travel in 2012. Now that we are settled in Colorado, it has morphed into a blog about hiking around CO area and general travel.

2012:
“Let’s quit our jobs and travel the world for a few months!!!”, I told Dan on the way home one evening from work on the light rail somewhere between the Newport Pavonia and the 2nd Street Hoboken stop. It was just another long day at work and I don’t think either one of us took that comment seriously.
8 months later we quit our jobs…BAM!
2012 would have been my 6th year and Dan’s 13th year at The Company. Instead we made a trip to the camping outlet, picked up backpacks and ultra-light, quick dry clothes and set off on a journey around the world. It was as simple as that.
NOT REALLY!
Planning an around the world trip is like planning a wedding. In both the cases, you can easily get lost in the fine details like selecting a font for the wedding card or deciding on an ultra-light keychain flashlight (yes, we pondered over both for way too long!) Now that our backpacks match our jackets and our swim-suits match our super-duper light, way-too-expensive, microfiber towels, we are ready to rock and roll on our journey.
We will keep you posted on our adventures as we meander through New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, India, and parts of Europe carrying our Kindles and granola bars. We plan to move to Colorado and keep up our outdoorsy lifestyle once we get back from our travels. This was a huge CHANGE for us and we appreciate the love and support of our families and friends.

I’m all about the zero hour work week too. I stopped working in 2007, and I have no plans to start again if I can help it! 😉 My hubby and I are on RTW right now and in our 9th month and don’t want it to end ever. Can we make this into our life somehow? 🙂

Happy travels!!
Really enjoying your blog! We’re seriously thinking about taking 12 months off in a couple of years time to hike/fly/bus/boat our way around the world. It’s good to see that you’ve taken the plunge and are having such a great time! Some of the places you’ve been too look incredible and I’ve been making many mental notes to go and visit ‘one day’. 🙂
Andrew,
Do it! Do it! DO IT! It will be the best, most fun and the hardest thing you’ll probably ever do. You will love it! Let me know if you have any questions on planning or places to visit. I’d be happy to impart some of my newly found wisdom along the way 😉
All the best and seriously DO IT!
Thanks for reading!

HI ShruTroup
Thanks fo stopping by at my blog. Yours is such a cool story. I wish I could just quit ( well i did, but am looking for another job) and travel forever.
Will keep coming back!
Thanks Vipula! Glad you enjoyed it. Hey, maybe you can take some free time and ‘wander’ a bit. Nothing wrong with that 🙂
I enjoyed your walking tour blog..very well written. I could totally imagine myself in Mumbai.
I have been there several times myself when I was young and the trip mainly involved meeting family and eating food. It was less about discovering Mumbai, its streets, and the history. I will have to try your walking tour next time I am in Mumbai.
Keep bloggin’
Best,
Shru
